Tehran, Iran, Jul. 13 – The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces said today that the United States was “in delirium after receiving blows from Iran”.

Major General Hassan Firuzabadi, speaking at the inauguration ceremony for Iran’s newly-appointed police chief, said, “America’s comments about lack of democracy in Iran are the result of the blow that the Iranian people dealt to the Americans and they are now talking in delirium”.

“Mr. Bush and Mrs. Rice are sticking their heads in the sands like ostriches”, he said.

“The American [forces”> must go home, back to North America. If other nations have not taught America a lesson, Muslims will teach America a lesson that will make them flee Iran with remorse. We will defend our nuclear technology and our export of oil and gas to the East and West”, the general said.

Addressing Muslims around the world, particularly the people of Iraq and Afghanistan, the Islamic Republic’s top military commander said, “The U.S. is confronting the nations of the world like a wolf. Muslim nations and our neighbours must understand this and must learn the right lesson by reading the secret documents of the U.S. embassy in Tehran that were revealed by the Students Following the Line of the Imam [the hostage-takers”>. Iran proved in the recent election that it is on its way to become an influential power in the region and the U.S. must wait for a huge challenge from this power that will have irreparable consequences for it”.

“Mighty Iran proved its strength during the Iran-Iraq war and it had a crucial impact on the Iraqi elections six months ago”, he said.

Firuzabadi said that in the past five years Iran’s State Security Forces had grown into the Islamic Republic’s “largest organisation”.
