Tehran, Iran, Sep. 03 Irans newly-installed President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced that his goal was to turn Iran into an Islamic state and an Islamic society, state-run dailies reported on Saturday.
Speaking at a gathering of Islamists on Thursday, Ahmadinejad said, The [Supreme”> Leader [Ayatollah Ali Khamenei”> stated that the victory of the [1979″> Islamic Revolution was a big step in reaching the goal [of global Islamic rule”>. An Islamic state, and an Islamic government, and the creation of an Islamic society, in which all internal and external relations are based on Islamic laws, are the next steps to reach this goal.
To reach this goal is today our duty and to carry out this duty we must do a lot of work, the Revolutionary Guard commander-turned-president said.
On Friday, Irans Supreme Leader told a gathering of senior officials in Tehran that the Islamic world was capable of standing up to the United States and had a duty to do so.
