Tehran, Iran, Jan. 02 – A top Iranian lawmaker on Monday rejected Russia’s proposal to break the deadlock over Iran’s nuclear program as “unacceptable” and announced that Tehran would recommence suspended nuclear activities at its giant uranium enrichment plant in Natanz, central Iran, in the coming days.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, who heads the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Majlis (Parliament), said that Tehran planned to carry out nuclear research at Natanz, the official state news agency reported.

“Completion of the nuclear fuel process based on international regulations is part of our policies and we are determined to make the Natanz project active after the Isfahan one”, Boroujerdi said, referring to work carried out at a uranium conversion plant in Isfahan, central Iran. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had demanded that Tehran suspend both uranium conversion and enrichment.

The influential deputy said the attainment of full nuclear fuel cycle was the policy of the Islamic Republic.

“Having reactivated [the Uranium Conversion Facility”> in Isfahan, we are determined to resume work in Natanz”, he said.

Boroujerdi praised the tough position of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government in nuclear talks, adding that the West was compelled to accept the resumption of Iran’s suspended nuclear works when their threats fell on deaf ears.

“Our refusal to give in to the bullying and illogical demands of the West paid off and it showed that our policy is ahead of them”, Boroujerdi said.
