Tehran, Iran, Mar. 31 – Four powerful earthquakes and close to a dozen minor ones struck Iran’s western province of Lorestan on Friday, leaving at least 70 people dead and 1,264 others injured.

Several hundred villages in the province were flattened in the tremors.

The most powerful of the quakes measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale struck the industrial city of Doroud as people were asleep in the early hours of the day.
