Tehran, Iran, Sep. 20 – Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani will meet with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana next week, Iranian state television reported on Wednesday.

The report quoted Larijani’s office as saying that the pair held a telephone conversation on Wednesday during which they agreed to meet each other next week to discuss a solution to the international standoff over Tehran’s nuclear activities.

The meeting will be held in a European capital, the report said.

Larijani, who is secretary-general of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), is currently on a one-day visit of Damascus where he has met and held talks with Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.

Regional allies Iran and Syria are both accused by the United States of being state sponsors of terrorism.
