Tehran, Iran, Oct. 02 – Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani held talks on the phone with Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing over the latest developments on Iran’s nuclear file, state media reported on Monday.

Larijani briefed the Chinese Foreign Minister on his meeting last week with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana.

Beijing seeks a diplomatic settlement of the row over Tehran’s controversial nuclear work.

The United Nations Security Council has called on Iran to suspend all uranium enrichment activities.

Iran’s government spokesman announced on Monday that despite ongoing negotiations with the West the Islamic Republic would not be willing to halt uranium enrichment, echoing comments on Sunday by hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
