TEHRAN, Nov. 1 (UPI) — The International Atomic Energy Agency got the answers it needed from Iran to allay nuclear concerns, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.

Araqchi, who led the Iranian delegation to Vienna for two days of talks with the IAEA, said, “After we answered the questions, the agency underlined that it had received the answers it wanted and that the issue had been settled,” Press TV reported Friday.

A joint statement issued earlier this week said the two sides had a “very productive meeting” that focused on “past and present issues” with Iran’s nuclear program.

Iranian leaders have denied allegations there may be a military dimension to the country’s nuclear program, saying they have a right to peaceful nuclear research as a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The joint statement said Iran presented a “new proposal” in an effort to resolve outstanding issues over its nuclear program. Few specifics were released.

Another round of talks between Iran and the IAEA is scheduled later this month in Tehran.
