Reuters: World powers will need “a few days” to study Iran’s response to their package of incentives aimed at ending a dispute over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy said on Wednesday.

BBC: China and Russia have said negotiations are the only way of easing tension over Iran’s nuclear programme, following Tehran’s offer of talks on the issue.

The Guardian: After months of defiant rhetoric over its nuclear programme, Iran formally rejected an international demand that it suspend uranium enrichment yesterday to allay western fears that it wants to build an atomic bomb.

New York Times: Iran responded Tuesday to a set of incentives from Europe and the United States aimed at ending its nuclear program, but did not agree to suspend the enrichment of uranium by the end of the month, the West’s primary demand.

Reuters: Six world powers were studying Iran’s offer of more talks to resolve a nuclear dispute on Wednesday, but it was not clear whether Tehran’s response went far enough to avert the threat of U.N. sanctions.

Iran Focus: London, Aug. 22 – European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana commented on Tuesday on the response received from Iran to the nuclear package of incentives offered to it by the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany.

Reuters: Iran handed over its formal response on Tuesday to a nuclear incentives offer from major powers and said it contained ideas that would allow serious talks about its standoff with the West to start immediately.
