Tehran, 13 May – From the Grapevine …
Young people in the capital’s northern districts of Elahiyeh and Ekhtiariyeh wrote extensive graffiti on walls Wednesday urging the public to join the 10-day anti-government protests in June, which the opposition has called for.
They wrote “Death to Khamenei” (Iran’s Supreme Leader) and “Don’t forget 20 June” on walls in Dowlat, Kamran, Iran, and Agha Bozorgi streets as well in Miniature housing complex. They also distributed leaflets with the same message Wednesday night.
At one point a police patrol in Elahiyeh district attempted to arrest the defiant youths, but failed to do so as they moved quickly to evade arrest.
