Tehran, Iran, Jul. 21 – Iran said on Friday that accepting the West’s demand that it freeze uranium enrichment was tantamount to accepting surrender.

“Accepting the West’s precondition of suspending enrichment is tantamount to Iran submitting to them”, former President Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said in his Friday prayers sermon in Tehran. His speech was aired live on state television.

Referring to the West’s precondition that Tehran suspend uranium enrichment before any negotiations take place, Rafsanjani said, “This precondition is like them getting the fruit of their negotiations before the negotiations take place”.

“Even though Iran has on numerous occasions announced its readiness to negotiate, the West has deliberately made its proposal in such a way that it cannot be carried out or humiliates Iran”.
