Tehran, Iran, Dec. 09 Iran called on the United States to withdraw its forces from Iraq to prove it was sincere in its democratic claims.
The U.S. has been completely defeated in Iraq, Friday prayers leader Ahmad Khatami told worshippers in Tehran. His comments were aired on state television.
The Iraqi people have elected their government. If the U.S. really believes in democracy it should hand over control to this countrys government and civilian apparatus and leave Iraq, Khatami said.
He described the U.S.s defeat in Iraq as a defeat for Americas Republicans and advised Democrats to take a lesson and not repeat the same mistakes.
Khatami also claimed that Washington had been defeated in its standoff with Latin American countries such as Venezuela.
