Tehran, Iran, Apr. 10 – Iran’s radical President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed on Monday that the Islamic Republic would never back down from its “right” to enrich uranium. Highly-enriched uranium is the main ingredient of a nuclear bomb.

“The enemies must know and this nation must be assured that the servant government will pursue the nation’s wishes with wisdom and strength and will not back down in the slightest way from the rights of the Iranian nation”, Ahmadinejad said at a rally in the north-eastern city of Mashad.

“The enemies must know that they will never be able to hurt the Iranian nation the slightest bit”, he said, adding that the West could not stop Tehran from pursuing its nuclear ambitions.

He said that the Iranian nation must not fear the threats of several “hollow powers”.

“The future will show that the path that the Iranian nation chose was the path of honour”, he added.

The West believes Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapons program under the guise of nuclear energy development.

The United Nations Security Council adopted a “Presidential Statement” unanimously on March 29 giving Iran 30 days to suspend all of its uranium enrichment activities and resume its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
