London, 2 Dec – Nearly 70 members of the Iranian terror squad, the Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) have been recently killed in Syria according to reports from the democratic Iranian Resistance Forces.

Iran’s deputy president, Mullah Seyyed Mohammad Ali Shahidi Mahallati, claimed that the number of IRGC forces killed in the Syrian civil war exceeded 1,000.

The Iranian Resistance notes that the losses of IRGC forces combined with troops from Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq, are likely to be ten thousand. They estimate this from the number of IRGC commanders who are brought to Iran for burial; 39 IRGC Brigadiers, 28 IRGC Colonels and two colonels under Khamenei’s command.

Mostafa Tajerzadeh, a political prision in Evin Prision, said: “We had an intervention in Syria full of loss with little profit… no country has had so much casualties in Syria as Iran…Despite the toll, we are accused of killing the Syrian people and pursuing sectarianism. Our credibility is damaged, and every day we go deeper into the Syrian quagmire.”

The Iranian Regime have attempted to cover up this devastating loss of life by burying their mercenaries in unmarked graves in Syria, rather than return their bodies. It is hoped that by downplaying the death toll, the Regime will avoid the discontent and anger directed at them by victims’ families and the public who oppose and protest the war.

Mehdi Khazali, a critic of the Iranian Government, said’: “Wasn’t the eight-year war (with Iraq) enough, now we have been fighting in Syria for five years; it was a mistake and shouldn’t happen, and I have said this many times before…In fact the war has occurred and we are engaged in this quagmire, and we are engaged with the issue of ISIS which was created due to mismanagement of Haj Ghasem Soleimani. Hadn’t he done this, there wouldn’t have been ISIS…this is the mistake of Haj Ghasem Soleimani.”

However, this lack of attention given to fallen soldiers has only made the families suffer more. The Regime is even slow to act for injured or disabled Afghan troops who return from the war.

Mahallati has previously claimed that the Iranian troops are protecting sacred shrines in Syria but the bodies of their armed forces are always found hundreds of miles from the holy sites.
