Tehran, Iran, Oct. 01 – The Office of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denied Saturday afternoon comments attributed to him by the Dubai-based daily Khaleej Times in its morning edition.

“If Iran’s [nuclear”> case is sent to the Security Council, we will respond by many ways, for example by holding back on oil sales or limiting inspections of our nuclear facilities”, the Khaleej Times quoted the hard-line President as having said.

The report was carried by foreign and domestic news agencies.

A subsequent statement by the presidential office was carried in the state-run ISNA news denying the interview ever took place.

ISNA asked its viewers not to make use of its previous report of the interview.

There was no immediate reaction to the Iranian statement from the Khaleej Times.

Previously, top Iranian officials had hinted that Iran would use its oil influence to prevent its nuclear file from being sent before the Untied Nations body.
