Iran Behbahan

One of the crimes of the Iranian government in recent years has been the destruction of homes of poor people, who are not able to buy or rent any place for living.

The regime without considering their poor situation destroys their houses and with it their entire life. It tries to legitimize its acts with the alibi of non-standard constructions or illegal constructions.

Reports from Behbahan, in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan Province, on 27 May said the homes of a number of Iranian Arab people in Behbahan were destroyed by repressive forces.

According to a received report, during the years of the Iran-Iraq war, the houses of these people were destroyed as a result of the war and they were forced to relocate to the suburbs of the city of Behbahan, during which time they settled in this place.

The lands and properties of these citizens in Bostan (Subile and Chezabeh regions) have been seized by oil companies, which are all in the hands of the authorities.

These citizens also built houses for themselves in the vicinity of Behbahan and continued their lives there during these years. Now, years later, by the regime’s inhuman policies, the security forces have destroyed the only roof over the head of these deprived people, leaving them defenseless in the desert heat.

One citizen told the repressive forces: “You are dirtier than a dog if you destroy it (his house). You are an animal. By God, this is lawlessness. Who brought it? Who made this house for me? Did Khamenei make it? We made it ourselves. Who made it for me? Did the leader make it for me? I came here from Bostan. I built this house myself.”

In another brutal crime in Kermanshah on 19 May, a deprived woman, Asieh Panahi, who lived in a shed, while resisting the destruction of her shed by government officials of the district 3 of the municipality, was forcibly transferred to another location and died.

ILNA claimed: “There was no beating”, but continued, “The woman did not heed the warning from officers to leave the shed, so Cheshmeh Sefid (White spring) addiction camp officials arrived at the scene and took her to the camp, while she was resisting.”

ILNA added: “The woman, who lived with her daughter and granddaughter in the shed, became nauseous after being transferred to the Cheshmeh Sefid camp and eventually died.” She was 58 years old.

Panahi shouted as they peppered her face: “I have heart disease Don’t do this.”

Attack of the Iranian municipal officials on the house of Asieh Panahi, an old woman from Kermanshah.

Kermanshah’s municipal officials, along with police, tried to demolish the house in the town of Fadak, which they claimed was unlicensed, but were prevented from doing so by the family members because the family had built the house on their own land.

Asieh Panahi’s body was buried in her native village of Sarab in the Sarfiruzabad district of Kermanshah.
