London, 21 Apr – Six politicians were approved to run in Iran’s presidential election, but the former hardline president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, wasn’t one of them. The list of candidates who had applied to run for president ran to more than 1,600 other nominees, including 137 female candidates, as well as Ahmadinejad. According to the final list of approved candidates announced on Thursday, all but six have been disqualified.

London, 20 Apr – The Iranian Regime blocked access to a free voice messaging feature, from the Telegram messaging app, just days after its release.

This new encrypted voice calls service was rolled out to users around the world last week, but in a statement released on Monday, Telegram announced that the feature was being blocked by internet service providers as soon as one day after release.

The state official, quoted in the state-run paper, Qanoon, on April 9, said: “In [the first nine months of 2016], 384 infants were born influenced by addictive drugs.”
