London, 13 Feb – The situation in the Middle East is growing more and more volatile and it is difficult to imagine how events will evolve. In Syria, in particular, there are numerous powers in conflict. The Americans and the Russians, Iran and Israel, and the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Free Syrian army and its allies.
It is likely that a clash between Iran and Israel will come to a head. Turkey refuses to get more involved if it looks like it will be drawn into combat areas.

London, 12 Feb – Ms. Asma Jahangir, a leading human rights lawyer and the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran has died at the age of just 66.
Jahangir was born in Lahore in Pakistan during the sixties and became the first woman in the country to serve as the President of Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan.
She has been described as a fearless activist and one that has put herself at great personal risk in her pursuit for human rights. Despite threats and pressure from opposition, Jahangir always stood for what she believed in.

London, 12 Feb – Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance in Iran (NCRI), told politicians opposed to the theocratic mullahs that Iran would not now be able to return to the status quo and that the only viable option was regime change.
At a meeting in Paris, she said: “What happened in Iran was beyond some protest demonstrations against economic problems, but a nationwide movement against the clerical rule in its entirety.”
The protests, sparked by a draft budget that increased funding for the military while slashing funding for the poor, quickly became about all of the Regime’s problems and shortcomings.

London, 12 Feb – In an open letter to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, leading academics in Iran have demanded answers relating to the alleged suicide of a distinguished environmentalist in prison.
Kavous Seyed Emami, a professor at Imam Sadegh University and founder of the Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation, died just two weeks after he was arrested and taken to prison on vague charges of spying.
On Saturday, February 10, his family were told that he had committed suicide and a judiciary official said, on Sunday, that Emami had confessed to crimes related to espionage.
There are ten areas that Maryam Rajavi and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) see as in need of improvement in terms of gender equality in Iran.

1. Fundamental freedoms and rights
Maryam Rajavi believes that women should have the same human rights and fundamental freedoms as men and vows to ban any type of discrimination against women, in order to ensure that women are equal to men in all economic, social and political spheres.

London, 09 Feb – The Iranian Regime has reportedly conducted an opinion poll among the Iranian people, which found that only 4.9% of Iranians are in favour of regime change.
However, logic dictates that this is just part of the Regime’s meaningless propaganda campaign.
Why? Because if you live under an oppressive Regime that has been rounding up protesters and threatening them with the death penalty, who routinely imprison political activists, and who once massacred 30,000 political prisoners in just one summer, why on earth would you tell a stranger on the telephone your true political beliefs?

London, 09 Feb – Lawmakers and political dignitaries from numerous European countries including Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Ireland, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland, Malta, and Poland participated in a conference named “Iran Uprising – International Call for Release of Detainees” on Friday 9th February.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) addressed the speakers and spoke about the changing circumstances in Iran. She said that the situation was changing for the better and spoke about four main issues.
The Iranian Resistance forces, united under the leadership of Maryam Rajavi, want to see the separation of religion and government in Iran.
Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), has given many speeches advocating for an end to religious governance in Iran, which is in direct contrast to the theocratic Iranian Regime that uses Islam to oppress its own people.
