London, 21 Sep – One cyber security firm warned on Tuesday that further attacks on the US and its interests abroad by an Iranian -aligned hacking collective remain possible as America reimposes more sanctions in November, following the launch of a major campaign targeting energy firms and others in the Mideast.

The firm FireEye said that the spear-phishing” email campaign has so far only involved hackers stealing information from infected computers, but warned that this is hack is similar to a type of malware that was used in attacks on Saudi Arabia that destroyed tens of thousands of computer terminals.

London, 20 Sep – Hackers associated with Iran launched a major campaign that targets Middle East energy firms and others ahead of the initial US sanctions in August, according to American cyber security firm FireEye, warning that further attacks could be coming before the upcoming sanctions against Iran ’s oil industry come into effect in November.

FireEye said on Tuesday that the “spear-phishing” email campaign allows hackers to steal information from infected computers, but caution that the malware used in similar to one that destroyed tens of thousands of terminals in Saudi Arabian oil company Saudi Aramco, deleting the hard drives and displaying a picture of a burning American flag on the monitors.

London, 20 Sep – The island nation of Sri Lanka has stopped its crude imports from Iran and is switching to other sources, according to Petroleum Resources Development Minister Arjuna Ranatunga.

Minister Ranatunga told reporters in Fujairah, the United Arab Emirates that Sri Lanka stopped importing Iranian crude as soon as US sanctions were announced.

He said: “We didn’t buy [directly] from Iran. We buy from Singapore, Dubai, Fujairah. We’re looking at signing government-to-government agreements over the next couple of months. We’re looking at long-term agreements.”

London, 19 Sep – Back in May, when Donald Trump formally announced that he would be pulling out of the 2015 nuclear deal, there was a great deal of concern that this would either dramatically increase oil prices and damage the American economy or fail to stop international companies from trading with Iran and allow Iran to restart its nuclear weapons programme without oversight. As of yet, neither has happened.

Instead, Iran’s crude exports are plummeting nearly two months before the sanctions go into effect, as global oil companies – even those based in countries still committed to the deal – are cutting their ties to the country. Despite this, oil prices in the US have not risen as dramatically as was feared, essentially remaining stagnant, largely thanks to the increase in oil production by the US and other oil-producing countries.

According to this state-run website,“Like many other national statistics, the exact number of children who have been deprived of education is not available. The figures offered by the ministry education differs from that of the Well-being Organization. The Mardom-Nahad body and other NGOs also offer different information.”

London, 19 Sep – Cargo jets that are suspected to have transported weapons from Iran to Syria have made nearly 200 such flights in the past 12 months, according to flight tracking data.

Israel’s intelligence agencies have previously cited that these flights conducted or arranged by the Iranian and Syrian militaries are key to the transport of weapons from Iran to Syrian dictator Bashar Assad and the Lebanese Hezbollah.

Israel has reportedly been the force behind the airstrikes that have hit several airports and warehouses in Syria, shortly after the cargo planes have landed, including on Saturday, when the cargo was being taken off of an Iranian Boeing 747 that had flown from Tehran to Damascus.
