Expert Panels Discuss Iran’s Future and the Role of the Iranian Opposition (MEK / NCRI)

London, 30 Jun – Earlier today, two European based Organizations, the Foundation for Middle Eastern Studies (FEMO), and Alliance for Public Awareness, Iranian Communities in Europe (APA), held three panels to discuss the future of the Iranian Regime.

These panels, which were held ahead of the #FreeIran Gathering in Paris on July 1, were hosted by politicians, human rights advocates, and national security experts who all wanted to answer the question: Where is Iran heading?

The NCRI President Maryam Rajavi’s ten-point-plan for a free, democratic Iran will be highlighted.

The Trafficking in Person report, dated Tuesday, June 27, criticised the Regime for not even making the most minimal efforts to stop human trafficking and giving the traffickers a free pass.

Former EU Vice-President: West Must Be Vigilant Against Iran Propaganda

London, 30 Jun – The Former European Parliament Vice-President Alejo Vidal-Quadras has warned that the West needs to be more vigilant against Iranian propaganda, which depicts the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism as an ally in the War on Terror.

Vidal-Quadras, president of the Brussels-based International Committee in Search of Justice (ISJ), wrote that the Iranian Regime often tries to paint its actions, like launching missiles towards the Deir-es-Zour region of eastern Syria, as justified in the war on terror, but they aren’t.

Former US Homeland Security Expert Advises Supporting the Iranian Resistance

London, 29 Jun – In Iran’s recent sham elections, the Iranian Regime declared Hassan Rouhani as the victor and many Western media outlets fell over themselves to declare a victory for moderates over extremism.

But Rouhani is no moderate. He used violent, extremist speech in his campaign. He executed nearly 4,000 people in his first term, including juveniles and political prisoners. He supported a crackdown on the rights of the Iranian people. He was a senior security officer during the 1988 massacre which killed 30,000 political prisoners, many of whom were supporters of the main political opposition the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK).

London, 29 Jun – The Iranian Resistance (MEK) have reported hundreds of acts of defiance within the country, ahead of the Free Iran gathering in Paris, on July 1.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)/People’s Mujahedeen Organization of Iran (MEK) report that hundreds of MEK supporters in Iran are risking their livings and their freedom in order to show their support for the MEK; from distributing pro-MEK leaflets to sticking up posters to acts of graffiti on Regime property/propaganda.

Iran Regime Forced to Acknowledge Skyrocketing Drug Addiction Rates

London, 29 Jun – Officials in the Iranian Regime have been forced to acknowledge that drug addiction rates in their country have more than doubled since 2011.

There are now 2.8 million people in Iran who regularly use drugs, according to a report by the Drug Control Organization, compared with 1.3 million just six years ago.

EU Parliament Condemns Human Rights Abuses in Iran

London, 29 Jun – Hundreds of members of the European Parliament have come together to condemn the egregious human rights violations in Iran, call for justice for the victims of the 1988 massacre, and call for the blacklisting of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation.

The statement which outlines these movements, penned by Gérard Deprez MEP, the President of the Friends of a Free Iran group within the European Parliament, has been signed by 265 MEPs from across all EU countries and political parties. 

Former Archbishop Rowan Williams: Religious Minorities in Iran Deserve Protection

London, 29 Jun – The Former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams is urging Western Governments to put the rights of religious minorities at the heart of any future deals with the Iranian Regime.

Lord Williams is working with dozens of faith leaders across the UK and the US, including the former Bishop of Oxford John Pritchard, the Bishop of Bristol Mike Hill, and the Bishop of Burnley Philip North, to make clear that Christians and other religious minorities are subject to high levels of harassment and persecution under the ruling theocracy in Iran.
