For three decade this atrocity was kept silent. However, when conservative cleric Ebrahim Raisi, who was one of the perpetrators of the massacre, was selected as one of the main candidates in this year’s presidential election, the issue forced regime officials to acknowledge the crime.

Those massive street protests came at the height of the Arab Spring protests toppling governments throughout the Middle East and threatening Tehran. This led to the election of “moderate” Hassan Rouhani in 2013, and pushed through the nuclear deal that would lift the economic sanctions on Iran.

London, 13 Jul – Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called Hamid Baghaei’s detention as a great oppression, calling for his release. Baghaei was the Vice President of Iran in the government of Ahmadinejad.
The former President of Iran, on Tuesday, June 11 wrote a letter following the arrest of Hamid Baghaei, calling him as a true and revolutionary man; criticizing his arrest without further proof.

London, 12 Jul – The United States Secretary of Defense, James Mattis, has said that regime change in the Islamic Republic of Iran will be essential if the US and Iran are ever to have positive relations and interactions.
In an exclusive and rare interview with high schooler Teddy Fischer at Mercer Island High School, Mattis spoke about the hardships of the Iranian people and the lack of democracy in the country because of the ruling theocracy. He also emphasised that the overthrow of the regime will not be a simple task.

London, 12 Jul – On 1st July 2017, the Iranian Resistance held its annual rally in Paris. There were lawmakers, politicians, dignitaries and former officials from five continents and over 50 countries in attendance, as well as tens of thousands of Iranian people.
The President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, emphasized that regime change is the only way in which the Iranian people can finally gain the freedom they deserve. This is also important for the ethnic minorities and will end the conflict that has divided Sunnis and Shiites. She also said that the only way for peace and tranquillity to be brought to the region is via regime change. Rajavi emphasized that regime change is possible and is close.

Its neighbours are strategically the most important because they provide the Iranian regime with the manpower needed for its proxies that fight on behalf of Iran abroad.

London, 12 Jul – After his historic first foreign visit to Saudi Arabia in May where he spoke up loud and clear about the dangerous Iranian regime and just before his visit to Moscow, United States President Donald Trump urged Russia to stop supporting Iran and Syria.
During his visit to Saudi Arabia, Trump denounced the Iranian regime’s actions in the Middle East and described the country as the world’s biggest state sponsor of terrorism. He called on the leaders of the 50 Muslim states in attendance to get rid of the extremists from their respective countries.

London, 11 Jul – The head of the Qods Force, a division of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said at a gathering last week that the country’s efforts to boost the influence of Tehran across the region are coming to fruition thanks to the Syrian war. Major General Qassem Soleimani slammed critics of the IRGC including Saudi Arabia.
Soleimani also spoke about the significance of Qods Day, an effort by Ayatollah Khomeini to ensure that Israel’s destruction and support for Palestine are frequently renewed.

London, 10 Jul – United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson recently said, much to the disdain of Iranian officials, that the US needs to start working with “those elements inside of Iran that would lead to a peaceful transition of that government”. This also surprised the international community to hear such an explicit statement.
The US has been helping with democratic change for a long time, but no progress has been made. The Islamic Republic is ruled by the Supreme Leader who is not only elderly, but who was also sick with a serious illness recently. A transition of power will probably lead to the entire system collapsing.
