MEPs call for measures to be taken towards Iranian regime and IRGC

London, 18 Feb – The European Parliament group – Friends of a Free Iran (FOFI) – held a conference on the occasion of the anniversary of the 1979 revolution in Iran. The conference took place on 15th February in Strasbourg and was chaired by MEP Gérard Deprez.

The guest speaker at the event was Mohammad Mohaddessin – renowned writer about Islamic fundamentalism and Iran and the chairman of the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s (NCRI) Foreign Affairs Committee. Mr Mohaddessin was also a political prisoner under the shah’s dictatorship.

London, 17 Feb – Those who were in favour of the Iran nuclear deal claimed that it would help the economy as the Iranian regime would lose much of its hold and control over the country’s economy.

The deal went ahead and sanctions were lifted. So why now are state-owned companies in Iran the ones that have benefited most from the deal? Why is the Supreme Leader and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) reaping the benefits?

At the minute, of 110 deals worth around $80 billion in total, around 90 of them have links to state-run companies.

The US representative office of the NCRI said in a press conference that the new recruits were being trained by the IRGC so they could work abroad.

The training is so that the new members can go and fight for Iran’s proxy terrorist groups that are scattered across the Middle East.

If the US decides to add the IRGC to the terror list, it will likely increase the hostility between the two countries, whose relationship has been waning since Trump took office.

New rounds of peace talks in Syrian Civil War

London, 16 Feb – The Syrian Civil War, which has been raging for nearly seven years, has earned two new rounds of peace talks, which will hopefully end the war.

The first talk will be held on February 16 in Astana, Kazakhstan. The two-day talk is expected to build on the talks held there in January between Syrian Governmental allies Russia and Iran, and Syrian Opposition supporters Turkey.
