London, 6 Jul – After the horrific attacks by the Iranian Government earlier this week on Camp Liberty, the makeshift home of many Iranian dissidents, it is time to assess how far the last year’s nuclear pact between Iran and several Western countries has gone.

Dr. Ivan Sascha Sheehan, director of the graduate program in Global Affairs and Human Security in the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Baltimore, wrote a piece for The Hill in which he decried the myth of a moderate Iran as “naïve”.

London, 5 Jul – Members of the European Parliament today called on the European Union and its member states: to condemn Monday’s missile bombardment of Camp Liberty; to press for an independent inquiry into the attack; and to act to dislodge the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from Iraq.

Paris, 5 Jul – After more than 50 rockets injured 40 and set large areas ablaze at Camp Liberty, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), called for urgent action to protect the camp’s residents.

London, 5 Jul – Reporting on the plan, agreed in June, between the democratic opposition movements of Iran and Syria, a leading English language voice in the Middle East, The National, called the alliance “an opportunity for the Gulf countries to increase pressure on the Iranian regime, which has been promoting instability in the region.”
