Washington bans Iranian officials from entering U.S., U.N. voices concern about human rights in Iran

On Wednesday, September 26, The Trump administration banned senior Iranian government officials from entering the United States.

The White House said in a statement on Wednesday that the ban on Iran’s senior government officials and their family members from entering the United States is due to Tehran’s sponsorship of terrorism and contributions to an ongoing humanitarian crisis.

MacDonald for the District of Minnesota announced the sentencing of Negar Ghodskani, 40, to 27 months in prison for her participation in a conspiracy to facilitate the illegal export of controlled technology from the United States to Iran.

On September 26, the US Department of Treasury imposed sanctions on six Chinese entities for violating sanctions on Iran.

The sanctions are part of the US government’s “maximum pressure campaign” against Iran. They target Cosco subsidiaries, Cosco Shipping Tanker Dalian, Cosco Shipping Tanker Dalian Seaman, and Ship Management, Kunlun companies Kunlun Holding, Kunlun Shipping and Pegasus 88, as well as oil trader China Concord Petroleum, for violating restrictions on handling and transacting Iranian oil.
