London, 25 Oct – Syria and Iraq are currently seeing a huge shift due to rapid political developments out of Iran (who are controlling the Iraqi government and helping the Bashar Assad dictatorship to massacre their own people) and the USA (who are working with the Syrian opposition and the Iraqi Kurds in order to defeat ISIS).

One of the biggest and most recent developments is the withdrawal of the Peshmerga (Kurdish) forces from the Kirkuk region in Northern Iraq, when it was announced that Iraqi troops (backed up by Iran) were heading to reclaim the disputed area after the Kurdish Independence Referendum. There were even accusations that the Jalal Talabani Kurdish group were working with the Iranian Regime (against their best interests) in order to gain control over the other Kurds.

London, 25 Oct – The Saudi Foreign Minister, Adel Al-Jubeir, has stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia supports the new US position on the Iranian Regime, as put forth by Donald Trump, noting that the 2015 nuclear agreement contains several problems.

Al-Jubeir made these comments at a panel on the future of worldwide turbulence, organised by the Royal Institute of International Affairs (commonly known as Chatham House), on October 25.

During the London conference, Al-Jubeir said that the Iranian Regime’s policy of supporting terrorism and terrorist activity around the world was unacceptable and would have dire consequences.

London, 24 Oct – The Iranian people are yet again rising up against the corrupt Regime and gathered in front of the country’s parliament to protest the plundering of their country’s wealth and the crooked policies of the Regime.

The Regime’s main opposition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), released a report and video showing over 2,000 people protesting outside the parliament in Tehran.

They shouted slogans like “Shame, shame on the police force”, “Death to the dictator”, and “Death to the demagogue”, whilst being accosted by the police force.

London, 24 Oct – A human rights organisation is calling on the Iranian Regime to overturn the death sentence on a Swedish academic.

Amnesty International wants the death sentence against Ahmadreza Djalali, a specialist in emergency medicine, quashed immediately.

Djalali, who was born in Iran and lives in Sweden, was sentenced to death on the charge of “corruption on earth” and given a 200,000 euro fine. Corruption on earth is one of many bogus charges handed down by the Iranian Regime when they can’t find evidence of any actual crime.

London, 24 Oct – Donald Trump has publically opposed the 2015 nuclear deal ever since his Presidential campaign and so it was only right that he decertify Iran’s compliance with the agreement, as he did earlier this month.

In doing so, he has started to right the wrongs of US policy on Iran that far predate the last administration and although it is not clear what exactly will come of the decertification (increased sanctions, deal renegotiation, US withdrawal are all possible outcomes), it was the right move.

London, 24 Oct – US Vice President Mike Pence and National Security Advisor General H.R. McMaster both addressed a Washington D.C. ceremony on Monday, which marked the 34th anniversary of the attack on the US Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, and highlighted the Trump administration’s commitment to defeating terrorism.

The 1983 attack, in which a suicide bomber drove a truck full of explosives in the barracks, was ordered by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in order to get the US to pull their Marines out of Lebanon.

In response, President Ronald Reagan ordered the USS New Jersey battleship, stationed off the Lebanese coast, to bombard the hills near Beirut.

London, 24 Oct – When he described the clerical establishment of Iran as “a dictatorship with a façade of democracy,” former House Speaker and Presidential Candidate Newt Gingrich added, “If you’re not part of the dictatorship, and you’re not acceptable to the dictator, you can’t run, and therefore to pretend that the elections actually offer any serious choice to the Iranian people is simply a fantasy.”

Gingrich made these comments while speaking at a luncheon held by the Organization of Iranian American Communities, OIAC at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, on Friday. Ambassador Lincoln Bloomfield Jr., the Assistant Secretary of State for Political Military Affairs under the George W. Bush administration.

London, 23 Oct – One of Iran’s longest-serving political prisoners has written a letter pleading for help after 81 days on hunger strike.

Mohammad Nazari was taken to a medical clinic after losing over 25 kilos (55 pounds) whilst on hunger strike. His health has declined so much that he has lost his voice and can barely walk.

He wrote a letter, shared on human rights websites and social media, lamenting his treatment at the hands of the Iranian Regime and pleading for human rights defenders to help him secure his release.

London, 23 Oct – Donald Trump’s new policy on Iran does not go far enough in relation to the Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).

Last week, the PMF and the Iraqi army invaded the oil-rich Kirkuk region- taken back from ISIS by the Kurds- under the orders of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi and commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Qassem Soleimani. Trump has refused to intervene, claiming that both Iraq and the Kurds are US allies and that it would not be appropriate to back either side.
