Iran’s Ministry of Labour: The Unemployment Situation Is at Crisis Point

According to the standards of International Labour Organization (ILO), the unemployment situation in Iran is at a critical situation. Head of the Centre for Strategic Information and Statistics of the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Cooperation, Labour and Social Welfare, said on Monday, August 28.

According to the state-run ‘Mehr news agency’ on August 28, Nematollah Mirfalah Nasiri added: “Unemployment will reach a crisis when the unemployment in the youth age group in a country becomes more than double the general unemployment rate.”

Human Rights Activists Condemn Treatment of Political Prisoners in Iran

London, 30 Aug – A few days before Hassan Rouhani’s inauguration of his second term as president,
Prison guards forcibly transferred 50 inmates to a separate hall without allowing them to take their personal possessions, including their medicine. It’s reported that during this process, several prisoners who protested were beaten and injured.

On July 30, the special guards of Gohardasht Prison, west of Tehran, also known as Raja’i Shahr, raided a ward where political prisoners, prisoners of conscience, human rights defenders, trade unionists, journalists, and students were kept. They were transferred to Hall 10, a high-security section, where surveillance cameras and listening devices are installed everywhere, including the bathrooms, in an attempt to keep the prisoners under strict control. Hall 10 lacks minimum facilities, including beds and hygienic fitments, and its windows are sealed, so there is little ventilation.

London, 29 Aug – The second term of Iranian President Hasan Rouhani, has only just begun, and his “moderate” presidency is already being challenged.

More than 20 Iranian political prisoners at Gohardasht prison, west of Tehran, were forcibly transferred to accommodations where conditions are described as “unbearable”. Their response was to go on a hunger strike, which has lasted for a month, now. Political prisoners at other jails have voiced their support, and many have joined the protest action. They are concerned, as it’s been reported that the striking prisoners at Gohardasht are being denied medical care by authorities.

Nurses Protest Working Conditions in Iran

London, 29 Aug – In Iran, nurses do not have official employment, but instead work on temporary contracts. They are paid a small salary, but even this is not paid regularly.

On August 24th, 2017, nurses protested in Boushehr over non-payment of salaries, past due for eight months. On July 16th and 17th, 2017, nurses in Semnan staged protests outside the Governor’s Office to demand 11 months of past due salaries. On May 30, 2017, the nurses and staff of a hospital in Yasouj staged a protest demanding six months of non-paid salaries. Over this past year, similar protests have been staged across the country.

London, 29 Aug – On Friday, a shocking report was published about Iran’s activities in Syria, which was based on a report by the Mossad, Israel’s external intelligence service, and detailed the buildup of Iranian troops in Syria.

70,000 Shiite combatants have joined the Syrian army, forming a long-term existential threat to Israel, according to Israeli analyst Zvi Barel.

Further, the report said that Iran is using civilian airplanes from the Iranian companies Mahan Air and Iran Air to transfer military equipment and troops to Syria. The Iranian carriers are airlifting these reinforcements during the night to avoid satellite tracking, in violation of the nuclear deal that six world powers made with Iran in 2015.

French Businesses Are Risking Far Too Much in Deals With Iran

Ever since the 2015 nuclear deal was implemented last year, various companies across the globe have been seeking out deals with the Iranian Regime but could it all be in vain?

On August 7, the Renault Group agreed to terms with Iranian state company IDRO (Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran) to take hold of 60% of the company shares in order to increase the production of Renault vehicles in Iran to 150,000 units per year.

Iran and North Korea Pose a Threat to Us All

London, 29 Aug – Baria Alamuddin, the foreign editor at Al-Hayat, wrote an op-ed for Arab News, entitled: “A threat to us all from the rogue merchants of death”, in which she described the illicit military cooperation between North Korea and rogue states such as Iran and Syria as “perhaps one of the major untold stories of our time”.

She explained that before the realities of the Iranian nuclear programme were know in the West, the Iranian Regime had been cooperating with North Korea in order to create their flagship ballistic missiles. Whenever North Korea stages nuclear tests, they invite Iranian experts as VIP guests.

Could Russia Stop Iran From Seizing Power in the Middle East?

London, 28 Aug – Russia is going to take advantage of the “confusion” of Western Governments in order to gain a stronger influence over the Middle East, according to analysts.

Russia’s strategy in the Middle East is short-term and poses Russia as an alternative to the West, according to Rand, an American think-tank based in Washington, D.C, in a recent research paper.

Other political analysts have argued that Russia is not reacting to Western policies but rather protecting its own interests.

Norhan Al Shaikh, a political scientist at Cairo University, said: “Syria was the only left foot for Russia (in the region).”

Iran Sentences Spiritual Healer to Death

London, 28 Aug – The Iranian Regime has sentenced to death imprisoned spiritual healer Mohammad Ali Taheri, one of his lawyers announced on Sunday, August 27.

The Erfan Telegram channel, which is run by Taheri’s followers, posted a copy of the official statement from lawyer Zeynab Taheri.

Another of his lawyers, Mahmoud Alizadeh-Tabatabaei, told the Regime-affiliated Iranian Labor News Agency (ILNA) that Taheri had “apparently” been sentenced to execution.
