Mattis as Secretary of Defense Is Bad News for Iran Deal

London, 4 Dec – Retired Marine Gen. James Mattis was commander of U.S. Central Command for the Obama administration but was forced to retire five months early because he was too aggressive with regards to Iran. So his nomination by President-elect Donald Trump as secretary of defense will probably cause some uproar with the Iran nuclear deal, said Saagar Enjeti for The Daily Caller.

Although Mattis was not against the actual deal, he did raise his concerns about how the deal would work in the long run.

The so-called “Martyrs of Iran” news network wrote on 29 November: “Hossein Allah Karam named a woman by her initials as A.Ch. that led to the resignation of a minister.”

Iran’s deputy president, Mullah Seyyed Mohammad Ali Shahidi Mahallati, claimed that the number of IRGC forces killed in the Syrian civil war exceeded 1,000.

London, 2 Dec – Iran has granted permission for Russia to use one of its airbases to attack the Syrian Resistance forces if its aircraft carrier has to leave the Syrian coastline for another mission.

Viktor Ozerov, chairman of the defence committee in the Federation Council, said: “The necessity to use the airfield of the airbase in Hamadan could emerge if Admiral Kuznetsov carries out another operation and [Russia] will not be able to use it for airstrikes against terrorists [read: the democratic opposition to Assad’s dictatorship] in Syria.”

Iran diplomats face charges in Kenya for filming Israeli embassy – report

London, 2 Dec – Two Iranians and their Kenyan driver, who worked for the Iranian embassy in Nairobi, were charged on Thursday with collecting information for a terrorist act after filming the Israeli embassy, Reuters quoted lawyers as saying.

Sayed Nasrollah Ebrahimi, Abdolhosein Ghola Safafe and driver Moses Keyah Mmboga “were found taking video clips of the Israeli embassy … for the use in the commission of a terrorist act”, according to a charge sheet produced in court.
