London, 18 Oct – Iran’s interference in the civil war in Syria has been bloody. It has propped up Bashar al Assad and it has prolonged the war that would have ended years ago had it not got involved.

The United States has been urging Iran, including its numerous proxies and militias, to leave Syria. And it is true that Iran is standing in the way of Syria from being able to properly start the process of reconstruction.

It is thought that the Trump administration is actively working towards pushing Iran and its proxies out of Syria. Several people with insider information told NBC News that a new strategy revolving around diplomatic and political moves would be put into place with the employment of economic pressure that would leave Iran with no choice.

London, 17 Oct – The Donald Trump administration is reportedly planning to increase economic pressure on Syria in order to push Iranian troops out of the war-torn country.

This new plan, which is part of an overall push by the US government to contain Iran’s malign behaviour in the Middle East, does not endorse military force against Iran or any of its proxy forces in Syria.

Instead, it cleverly uses targeted sanctions and the threat of withholding reconstruction aid in order to increase pressure on Syria to kick the Iranian forces out.

London, 15 Oct – Lebanon is a crumbling Arab state, where the Iran-backed Hezbollah reign supreme and a once-rich country is failing to meet even the most basic needs of its people.

A Lebanese activist recently ran laboratory tests on the drinking water source in the southern suburbs of Beirut and found it was contaminated with human faeces.
