London, 6 Jun – Ever since Iran’s sham elections on May 19, many Western pundits have predicted sweeping changes to the Gulf country under the second term of Hassan Rouhani, but they fundamentally misunderstand the Regime if they believe that he will bring moderation to it.

Hassan Mahmoudi wrote an op-ed for Track Persia, in which he dispelled the idea that Rouhani has the power to fulfil even the smallest of progressive promises that he made during his campaign because the true power lies in supreme leader Ali Khamenei.

Iranian Resistance President Advocates Expelling Extremists

London, 6 Jun – The leader of the Iranian Resistance, Maryam Rajavi, advocated for the expulsion of the Iranian Regime and their terror squad, the Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) from the Middle East in order to achieve peace and stability.

Rajavi made this speech at the Interfaith Solidarity against Extremism gathering on Saturday, June 3, at the central office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran in Auvers-Sur-Oise, which was attended by prominent figures from around the Middle East, including Syria, Yemen, Palestine, Jordan, and Algeria.

Iran Wants to Take Over Crossing Between Iraq and Syria

London, 5 Jun – The Iranian Regime has reportedly been attempting to take control of Syrian land that the US-Arab alliance took back from the so-called Islamic State in order to create a land crossing between Iraq and Syria, through which to transport weapons, troops, and money, which may further bolster the Syrian dictator Bashar Assad or be diverted to terror groups.

Iran Close to Breaching Nuclear Deal Again

London, 5 Jun – The agency responsible for assessing the Iranian Regime’s compliance with the 2015 nuclear accord has warned that another breach may be soon approaching.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released its quarterly report, in which it stated that Iran is incredibly close to its stockpile limit of heavy water, a chemical which is used to make nuclear weapons. Their levels of heavy water currently sit at 128.2 tonnes, just below the 130 tonne limit.

This is very different to how the Obama administration treated Iran and its regime. That administration appeased Iran to no end, but the current one has promised that this will not happen under the current president.

Some are wondering whether Iran is going to finally start engaging in the international community seeing as Rouhani has been re-elected. At the end of last month, the country’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, said: “There are those who are concerned a state and its people should have global relations, and I completely agree.”

There was nothing remotely democratic about the election, and it would be better described as a “selection process” rather than “election”, as any candidates that were not wholly faithful to the visions of the Supreme Leader were eliminated by the Guardian Council.

US Resolution Seeking Justice for 1988 Massacre Committed by Iranian Government

London, 1 Jun – The United States Congress recently introduced a resolution regarding the 1988 massacre in Iran. It was the largest mass execution of political prisoners since the Second World War.

Mike McCaul, the House Homeland Security Chair, was the one who introduced the resolution. While the resolution was being introduced, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, was speaking at the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
